AMERICAN HISTORY X

Academy Award nominated film, starring Edward Norton and directed by Tony Kaye, the controversial American History X is a powerful and thought provoking exploration of white supremisist ideology. Oscar nominated Edward Norton, delivers a searing performance as Derek Vineyard, a former neo-Nazi skinhead seeking retribution for the murder of his father. Fueled by racist hate, Derek becomes the leader of a white supremisist group who uses his intelligence to espouse destructive beliefs that ultimately culminate in prison time for murder.

While serving his time behind bars, Derek becomes a changed man, ashamed of his ugly past and no longer driven by hatred. Upon release from prison, he struggles to keep his teenage brother, played by Eddie Furlong, from going down the same dangerous path.

Perhaps even more poignant today, than when it was released in 1998, the film is now ranked among IMDB’s Top 50 movies of all time.

Due to its dedicated following, powerful performances, and controversial subject matter, American History X has become a cult classic film that continues to spark discussion and analysis even years after its release.
